What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are a popular new service and product that lengthens and thickens your own natural eyelashes. Lash extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes are are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash, one by one, for a natural, luscious look. Eyelash extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day-to-day wear. We never use strips or clusters of lashes. Yes, it takes time - but the results are that much more amazing.

What is the difference between Classic & Volume Sets?

Classic is a method where 1 lash extension is applied to 1 natural lash. Classic sets are perfect for clients who are looking for a more everyday look and for clients who already have a lot of lashes, but want to add more length and thickness.

Volume is a method where multiple lash extensions are applied to 1 natural lash. As this method requires using very thin and light-weight lashes, the result is a lighter, fluffier, fuller look. This method is perfect for clients who don't have a lot of lashes, sparse lashes, or for clients who want a more dramatic look without having to use thicker lash extensions.

How long do the eyelash extensions last?

The extensions will typically last about 3-5 weeks based on the growth cycle of your lashes. Each individual eyelash has its own growth cycle, so it is perfectly normal to lose a few natural eyelashes every day. Your individual eyelash cycle, combined with how well you care for the lash extensions, will determine how long they will last. With proper care and maintenance, and with appointments every 2-4 weeks, your lash extensions can last indefinitely.

What is the application process?

Your appointments should be relaxing in nature. After you lie down on the table, a lash artist will cover your lower lashes with a soothing gel pad to protect your lower lashes during the lash extension application. You will then have a chance to just relax with your eyes closed. Many clients fall asleep during the procedure and catch up on some rest!

How long does the session take?

The average Classic Set will take approximately 1.5-2 hours and a Volume Set will take 2-3 hours. The average maintenance appointment for touchups and fills will take about 1-1.5 hours.

Is it safe for my eyes and for my lashes?

Eyelash extensions, when properly applied, are completely safe. The extensions are applied with a special adhesive that is similar to what is used in the medical field for suture-less stitches.

Your natural lashes are always shedding and cycling back, so the extensions should simply fall off with your natural lashes. The extensions themselves do not cause your lashes to fall out or become damaged, unless your technician is applying extensions that are too long or too thick for your natural lashes.

How do I care for them?

The more meticulous you are about caring for your lash extensions, the longer you can expect them to last.

  • Use water-based and oil-free products around your eye area, including mascara and makeup remover. Oil breaks down the adhesive bond. Creams and serums should be applied sparingly, and no closer to than the orbital bone.

  • Avoid waterproof mascara. If you can, it is better not to use any mascara at all as wearing mascara regularly will decrease the time between touch-up appointments.

  • Always wash your eyelashes with gentle foamy cleanser, like baby shampoo, applied gently with your fingers and wash with water every single day. Remember, eyelashes are meant to protect our eyes from debris, dirt and dust.

  • Dry thoroughly by blotting (not rubbing) with a towel or blow drying on a cool setting, then spin through with a clean mascara wand.

  • Avoid using cotton swabs or pads that will leave lint and catch on your extensions.

  • Avoid using an eyelash curler as it creates a kink in your eyelash extensions, hence reducing the life of your extensions.

  • Do not rub, pick, twist or pull at your lashes or eyelash extensions. If you would like them removed, please contact your lash artist at Dollhouse Studio.

  • If you can, sleep on your back to avoid the risk of lashes rubbing against your pillow.

  • Be gentle with your lashes. How you care for eyelash extensions will directly affect the look of your lashes as well as the length of time between touch-up appointments.

What if I have skin sensitivities and allergies?

Skin sensitivities and allergies are extremely rare and your safety and care is our primary concern. We use the highest quality products and sanitation protocols in the industry. However, Dollhouse Studio is not liable for a reaction due to our products used. If you are concerned, please contact Dollhouse Studio for a patch test several days before your appointment.

Do I need an appointment?

YES! We work by appointment only. If you would like to schedule an appointment, the fastest way is online! Please be sure to note our cancellation and rescheduling policy.

Before your appointment:

  • If you use water proof mascara, avoid using it 2-3 days before your appointment. The film it leaves on your lashes may prevent the extensions from adhering correctly.

  • Arrive to your appointment with dry, clean lashes and makeup. The more time your lash artist has the spend cleaning your lashes, the less time you have for the application (and less lashes applied).

  • Remove contact lenses before your appointment.

During the initial 24-48 hours AFTER your appointment:

  • Avoid hot steam from showers, facials, saunas, and swimming pools for the first 24 hours.

  • Avoid tanning beds for 48 hours after application and make sure your eyelashes and eye area are covered during application.

  • Avoid chemical peels, waxing, or laser treatments around the eyes.

  • If you experience any pain, redness, or irritation, please contact your lash artist at Dollhouse Studio immediately.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

Scheduled treatments are reserved especially for you. We understand that situations arise in which you must cancel your appointment. However, we require 48 hour advance notice in order to cancel or reschedule any service with no charge. If your appointment is not cancelled within this notification period, your appointment is considered confirmed. Any changes or cancellations made after the 48 hour window are subject to a charge for each service. Because of this policy, a valid credit card number is required at time of booking.

Late policy

If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Regardless of the length of time already given, you will be responsible for the full session. Please note that we have a 15 minutes late policy. Arriving 15 minutes after your appointment will be considered a no-show and you will be charged accordingly to the services made. As a courtesy and consideration to your lash artist and other clients, please plan accordingly and be on time.
